A long time ago in a galaxy far far away Well not really that long ago, 2 days ago actually and not really a galaxy far far away, couple hours away to be honestone of my best friends, threw a party to announce his engagement to his bright and beautiful girlfriend, Elena. It was the best of times, it was the best of times, to quote Shakespeare or whoever wrote that book, shit I dunno, I dont really actually read books, just look at the picturesbut I digress. The party was thrown at some swanky Italian restaurant in central Virginia. Nice hors deovres, or however you spell that, some great jazz music, and the Maryland Duke game on the set. Was perfect! To make it even more perfect the generous parents of the bride, picked up the bar tab from 8-10, and that is no small feet considering the names on the guest list! Was a great time and I would like to thank the parents of the bride, for throwing this awesome party!!!

I did some reflection, on the ride home and thought about a lot of things that I learned at this party, and I will bore you with a few of the details now.

1) I have been blessed with the best group of friends on the planet. Not only can they appreciate a good Double A reference, but they also laugh at my jokes, and tell me when I got a boog hanging! They have all been for me in good times and bad, some for as long as 25 years! So without being too cheesy, ill just say you guys rock!
2) The Jon Stewart book America (The Book) is the best piece of literature this side of masterbation for Dummies!
3) One thing that I rambled on for hours on Saturday night is the phrase Good for you! I wonder, and id like to hear your opinions, on whether or not that is a compliment or an inadvertent slight or putdown. I bring this up because, upon hearing that I have chosen to make a career change, and go back to school to learn how to educate little kids, without any variation, everyone responded well good for you! I take this to mean well that is nice that someone else is doing that cause I sure as hell wouldnt wanna work for teacher wages, teaching little kids. Sorta like the response you would evoke upon telling an old friend that you have decided to leave your post of Cisco CEO to become a social worker. No one would ever say wow thats fucking great! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO envious of you, I have always wanted to work with the mentally handicapped, and here I am stuck pushing paper in an office for $100,000! You are SOOOOOOOOOO lucky They would definitely look at you funny and then when they realize you are serious, theyd say good for you! I could ramble on and on about this, but it seems, as Pete reminded me Sunday morning, I am really only good at rambling on and on about this, after imbibing 9-12 beers.
4) Pet names should never be uttered amongst a group of your guy friends. Boo bear, Puddin Head, Shmoopie Whoopie, none of these should be uttered, and if they are, you must be prepared to suffer the consequences.
5) There are very few things in life, more fun then watching The Cranium (Mike Krzyzewski) and the Blue Devils get their asses kicked on national television. I dont know what it is about Duke that makes me wanna puke, but they just do, and that loss in OT was awesome!

Well that is all I really learned from that trip. Was a great time and stuff and cant wait for the wedding!

As many of you all know today is Valentines Day. It is a day for us guys to spend, on average, about $546.87 on various gifts, dinner and what not on our loved ones. Its also the day before the best day of the year, to stock up on candy. It is also the midway point of the month of February and it is also an anniversary of sorts for me. It is a day that reminds me of the first time I met someone very special to me. The exact date escapes me, as my memory only goes back to about 2:17pm today, but as near as I can tell it is Feb 12, 2004. Some historians however note that they think it was on a Friday, which would make it the 13th, so this is a debate that will go on and on through the ages, as far as you know. But anyways, because of the freak of nature fact that I love to knit, I met this most special of special, person. So, last Saturday, I was sitting there, at the bar, and looking around at all the happy couples and I thought of the date and this person. I kept thinking that I have the worlds best examples, as far as Couples go. I know that they all made good decisions and found someone that was just the perfect one for them. I always wondered if there really was a perfect person or if they all just got lucky, or I dunno, in Petes case he must have gotten Elena really drunk cause I dont know WHAT the heck shes thinking. But I think at some point you just know. Like a light bulb goes off in your head and you just know. Well I know and 1 year later Im totally happy that I know and although at times I feel undeserving, Im over the moon. Cause she ROCKS!

Ok I know enough of that cheesy, Velveeta stuff. I know you all dont mosey on over here to hear me talk about how great people are, but I dont know, something came over me. I think it was the email I got this morning and the fact that today is the day to be cheesy. So ill try to throw in something funny to lighten it up before I get banished to the land of banished Diaryland diary things.

The Grammys Awards Show was on last night, celebrating another year of Grammy Award winning music. I agreed with some of the winners (Green Day, Los Lonely Boys) and disagreed with others (Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, for best Classical Crossover Album. Anyone who knows ANYTHING about classical crossover music surely knows that the Des Moines Zither quartets album, Guitars Aint Shit, is much more deserving!) So I figured I would post my picks for the best in music. So without any further adoI present to you the Pattys!

Album of the Year: American Idiot; Green Day- gotta say that this politically charged rock album is one of the finest cds Ive heard in quite some time!

Record of the Year: Uh um I thought album and record was the same thing?

Song of the Year:I Want to Do Pat and Stuff; Beyonce gotta say that this is the Feel Good Song of the Year!
